The Oldham County Dollars for
Scholars chapter is organized to provide local students with financial aid
and with personal encouragement and support to actively pursue higher levels
of academic achievement. The Oldham County community rallies around those seeking
higher education to give them a boost and ensure they reach their highest
potential.
Within
our first two years, 20 sponsors joined the chapter and this number
continues to grow every year. Each sponsor is asked to sign a long-term
agreement that they will sponsor a scholarship every year and that they will
notify OCDFS if they must terminate the agreement.

· Oldham County chapter uses a common application to make it easier for students to apply for several scholarships.
· The application can be downloaded from this website anytime after January 1 each year.
· Students who reside in Oldham County but attend a Jefferson county school, private school or are home-schooled receive notices via e-mail and announcements through the local newspapers.
· Oldham County Dollars for Scholars uses impartial methodologies and proven templates to select recipients - integrity at every step.
·
An award ceremony is held in May each year.
Some sponsors hold additional ceremonies for their recipients.
· All money raised in the community stays in the community.
· The National Dollars for Scholars office strongly recommends that all chapters make award checks co-payable to the student AND the college/university. Matching Partners do not need to honor requests for matching awards when the award check is made out only to the student.
